But Chef Gloria de Vera, executive chef and a mom of two, is set to defy the blandness of the organic and revolutionize healthy eating. Her Organic Gourmet, an all-organic restaurant, starts off from her chef-ly concern and maternal love for her then 12-year old daughter who is fond of eating steak three times a week, along with her favorite ice cream and junk food. This eating habit led her 12-year old daughter to gain so much weight to the point of reaching nearly 170 pounds, at the heaviest.
With knowledge as a chef, persistence of a concerned mother, and a few research on what would suit her daughter’s taste in an organic way of eating, the first two weeks of their experiment shed off 10 pounds from her daughter. Not only did she lost weight, her food preference has also changed, from all-steak and junkfoods to being semi-vegetarian.
This achievement that her daughter have attained through her experiments not only proved her that going organic really helps ones health, but it proved her wrong that organic means plain and tasteless. On the contrary, her efforts produced tasty and delicious organic foods that can both be enjoyed by the young and the not-so-young.
