RICO BLANCO signs record deal with Universal Records, New album out November

Rico Blanco inks new record deal with Universal Records as the singer-songwriter plans a huge comeback with a new album. Blanco signed with his new label home attended by Universal Records’ General Manager Kathleen Dy-Go and Operations Manager Peter Chan on Monday, October 6 in Quezon City.

In an interview, Blanco said he was excited about the new album. “It’s an honor to be part of this very prestigious family—well-known for giving the Pinoy music fans quality music over the years. So being a part of it now is a great honor for me.”

Universal Records will release Blanco’s all-Filipino album slated November 2015 – following on from 2012’s well-received “Galactik Fiestamatik” and 2008’s “Your Universe”. Announcing the good news however, Blanco also hinted that the upcoming album will go a different direction.

“I’ll be leaving the “Fiestamatic” sound and will go back to basics.” He also added, “My friends Raimund Marasigan (Eraserheads/Sandwich), Buddy Zabala (Eraserheads/The Dawn/Cambio) including Roll Martinez of Hale will be helping me out on this album. They’re going to be my bandmates for the entire album.”

“It’s gonna be that kind of album na mabilis. Limiting myself to just a few musicians but these are the best musicians I know with few instruments as possible. Like back-to-basics album.”
Recently, Blanco did a collaboration with “Parokya Ni Edgar titled “Sing” which is now available for digital download. “I saw a post na they’re working on a new album and I said, ‘Hey! Let’s just do that song already!” Rico shared, “It turns out they had this song na they were working on tapos gusto nila ilagay ko yung inputs ko do‘n para maging totoong collaboration siya. Hindi siya yung parang featuring lang yung isang artist, so talagang nag-jamming kami tapos nilagyan ko rin ng inputs ko, yung kanta na sinulat ni Gab (Gab Chee-kee, guitarist of Parokya).”

Watchout for Rico Blanco’s new album slated November 2015 via Universal Records.
